Introduction

Combining modern technology, the finest materials and world class craftsmanship, we are proud to present Battersea Table, which is inspired by the Battersea Power Station. Reflecting the architectural beauty of the power station, Battersea Table is a symbol of superior quality and longevity in the contemporary context.

Our work celebrates the intersection of architecture, furniture, and art. This work investigates the sculptural quality of one of London’s most recognisable buildings, turning it on its head, and asking us to reconsider its validity as an artistic statement.

From Idea...

The Battersea Power Station: A landmark and one of the few constants in London's ever-changing skyline. It is a symbol of heritage, one of the last giants of the industrial age in the UK. At the same time, it is a symbol of change with the new development just beginning construction.

It started as a simple idea on the way to a summer picnic two years ago. Being stuck in the London traffic on Grosvenor Road, looking out of the window: "Don’t you think the power station would make a cool table upside down? Of Course! "

As we got stuck in, we started to ask several questions: Can or should a sculpture play a functional role as a piece of furniture? Is art 'useful'? Can we create works inspired by architecture at a more intimate human scale which provoke us to consider it differently? Can the original intent of an industrial building (a power station) be recontextualized into an object of beauty?

...To Reality

We tried to find a symbiosis of the perfect ergonomics for the table without losing the iconic visual proportion and characteristics of the Battersea Power Station. The end result is achieved by merging a highly sophisticated design process with the world-class craftsmanship of traditional materials.
